Why this trip?

This is not a typical trip. This is a deep, off-the-map journey through one of the most remote and culturally rich places on Earth.

Papua New Guinea is raw, intense, and unforgettable. Expect early mornings, muddy trails, river crossings, basic conditions in remote areas, and moments that very few travelers will ever experience.

You will move through three completely different regions of the country: the Highlands, the Sepik River, and the coastal world of Rabaul. Most travelers only ever see one. On this journey, you experience them all.

This expedition brings together jungle, river, ocean, volcanoes, and powerful cultural encounters. This is a rare opportunity to truly feel Papua New Guinea, not just see it.

This is an expedition for travelers who value experience over comfort, connection over convenience, and places that remain truly untouched.

The warmth of Socotra’s locals is unmatched, and their genuine hospitality will make you feel right at home. They’ll show us their way of life, and we’ll honor their kindness by respecting their culture and treating them like the incredible hosts they are.

Where Do We Stay?

Accommodation on this expedition is simple and authentic, reflecting the realities of remote Papua New Guinea.

You will stay in a mix of guesthouses, eco-lodges, and traditional village accommodations. In remote areas, facilities are basic and shared, offering deep cultural immersion rather than comfort.

Expect:

Food during the journey is locally sourced and varies by region. Meals are simple and traditional, commonly including rice, fish, root vegetables such as sweet potato, taro, and yam, along with seasonal fruits and greens. Vegetarian options are available in towns but limited in villages. Vegan options are very limited, so flexibility is essential.

What Is Included

Note: Travel insurance is mandatory for this expedition and must cover medical emergencies, evacuation, trip delays, and remote adventure travel. Medical facilities are limited outside major towns, making proper coverage essential.

Flights

International flights to and from Papua New Guinea are not included.

The expedition begins and ends in Port Moresby. All internal flights are included, but schedules can change due to weather and operational conditions.

Domestic flights are operated by local airlines, and delays or cancellations are common. Buffer days before and after international travel are strongly recommended.

Health preparation is essential. Travelers should consult a doctor before departure regarding recommended vaccinations such as Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, and Yellow Fever (if arriving from an endemic country). Malaria risk exists, especially near rivers and jungle areas, so preventive medication and strong insect repellent are required.

Flexibility is not optional — it is part of the experience.
